Election 2012 The Future Destiny of Ameica

Election 2012 The future destiny of the United States rest on the shoulders of voters. This November 2012 we have a choice to make. The choice is as real and serious as slavery to government and welfare programs (communism), or, individual freedom to live as one would wish within the proper laws the people have delegated to the government (Capitalism). We must first start by explaining the proper role of government in our lives. For government to be respected it must make laws that are respectable and that the large majority of the populace will follow. Frederic Bastiat explains this well in his book The Law: “No society can exist unless the laws are respected to a certain degree. The safest way to make laws respected it to make them respectable. When law and morality contradict each other, the citizen has the cruel alternative of either losing his moral sense or losing his respect for the law.” To keep it simple I will define Moral as Christian values. Even an atheist can agree that Thou shalt not kill, steal, bear false witness (lying to get someone imprisoned) are pretty good morals. Understanding that not everyone is a Christian we will refrain from other Biblical commandments so as to respect our 1st amendment. I don’t think anyone can give a strong argument against those basic morals listed? Defining Government George Washington said “Government is not reason, it is not eloquent, IT IS FORCE. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.” Imbedded in our Declaration for Independence Thomas Jefferson penned: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator (For you atheist you can say Nature) with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” Can anyone bring an argument against these simple rights? If you were robbed do you not have the RIGHT to protect your property or your Life? Can another make you attend a church service or coerce you to serve them? The facts are that you have an inherent right, either bestowed upon you by God or Nature, to protect your Life, Liberty and Property. Since Government is a result of mans creation it should only follow that government is designed to serve and protect those inherent rights of man. For government receives only the power delegated to it by the people. In the Proper Role of Government (Benson, 1968) reads: “No one has the authority to grant such powers, as welfare programs, schemes for re-distributing the wealth, and activities which coerce people into acting in accordance with a prescribed code of social planning. There is one simple test. Do I as an individual have a right to use force upon my neighbor to accomplish this goal? If I have such a right, then I may delegate that power to my government to exercise on my behalf. If I do not have that right as an individual, then I cannot delegate it to government, and I cannot ask my government to perform the act for me.” The welfare and entitlement programs of today are funded by legal plunder. Monies that have been extracted from the tax payer and given to those who did not earn it. Again referring to the book The Law Bastiat explains it this way: “But how is legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply, See if the law takes from some person what belongs to them, and gives it to other person to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime.” Referring again to The Proper Role of Government it reads “To be sure, there are times when this principle of the proper role of government is most annoying and inconvenient. If I could only force the ignorant to provide for themselves, or the selfish to be generous with their wealth! It would be nice to force the ignorant to provide for themselves instead of creating entitlement programs to care for them. Especially the ones capable of providing for themselves. But his would take away their inherent right of Liberty. The laws of Nature and of God preserve the RIGHT of that person to use force against anyone who wishes to impose labor upon him. It used to be that anyone who chose not to work simply did not reap the fruits of their labors. But today the United States government has promised grand entitlements which it now cannot support. This legal plunder and the entitlement programs have robbed the citizens of this once great country by making them dependent on government. Today persons who choose not to work can claim thousands of dollars a month though welfare programs like section 8 housing and food stamps without exerting himself to labor. Thomas Jefferson wrote: “I predict future happiness for American if they can prevent the government from wasting the labor of the people under the pretense of take care of them.” We must not forget that government is dependent on the people who do work. The government earns no money of itself. Every penny that makes its way into the U.S. Treasury is the result of everyone who works and pays taxes. President Grover Cleveland said: “…Though the people support the Government the Government should not support the people.” Taxes are essential for a government to function properly. Oil and grease applied to moving parts in a machine are like taxes to a government. Too little grease and moving parts stick, rust, or break. Too much grease and the moving parts jam, and attract dust which will destroy the machine. Taxes are similar. Too little taxes and the government cannot perform the duties delegated to it by the people. Too many taxes and politicians pass legislation for redistribution of wealth and start lining their own pockets by giving themselves absurd salaries for life. The current salary for congress is $174,000. Staff salaries totaled $999,614 for Rob Bishop’s office in 2011. Staff salaries were much higher for Hatches Office totaling $2,439,498 for fiscal year 2011. This kind of spending of sacred funds that have been sacrificed by the tax payer is preposterous. President Bush and Obama have wasted trillions of dollars that you and I have sacrificed into the U.S. treasury. Over the past 100 years the United States has slowly been creeping towards socialism. But the past 12 years has been greatly accelerated. Bush pushed us over the edge with the wars, and spending grew out of control by passing pork legislation by both parties, in 2008 when he signed into law a bill that would cost over $800 billion to stimulate the economy. Obama has been even worse than Bush with spending more in 3 years and 2 months than Bush did in 8 years. The Bailouts of auto companies, clean energy companies that almost all have now filed for bankruptcy, entitlement programs, Obamacare which was designed to give everyone healthcare now reports that 30,000,000, yes 30 million, people will still be uninsured in the year 2020 when Obamacare is fully implemented. Obama care was supposed to cost tax payers $900 billion when it passed into law and the CBO now reports that it will cost just under $2 Trillion. When the law was passed there were 33 million uninsured people. So in essence the Government is spending $2 Trillion to insure 3 million people. WOW! These things are NOT the responsibility of the government. These actions, bailouts, stimulus, entitlements are legal plunder on a grand scale. I cannot take money from you and use it for my own gain or purposes. I may ask you for it, or you may freely give it to me or loan it to me but I cannot force you to give it to me without committing a crime of robbery. So how has the government been able to take from the tax payer what they have earned and give it to persons who have not earned it and that not be a crime of theft? Remind you that governments have no power but what the people have delegated to it. It is a collection of men selected to protect Life, Liberty and Property. Yet legislation has been passed to deprive you of your labors and give the fruits of that labor to others who exerted no labor for it. It is socialism! Unemployment has been over 8% for 42 months. Our national debt now boarders $16 trillion. An AG that has been held in contempt of Congress. A president whom we still know very little about. An administration that has moved us as close to socialism as we have ever been and may not be able to recover from? An administration that has about 30% of its people openly proclaiming to be socialist. This November we have a choice to follow down this road to communism, to re-elect a man who destroyed our way of life, increased our cost of living with poor policy, plundered our earnings to re-distribute money from the treasury to those who did not earn it and whomever he sees fit. America cannot survive another 4 years of this reckless spending, and dirty backdoor politics. Obama and congress have not passed a budget the whole time Obama has been in office. We cannot afford 4 more years of blank checks at the tax payer’s expense. On the other hand we have a man who has made millions in the private sector, who may not be as hip or cool as Obama but understands how to keep books and make a payroll. A VP pick that actually came up with a plan that was presented to Congress to SAVE Medicare and replace the $716 billion Obama has stripped from it. Romney Ryan ticket may not have all the answers but at least they are proposing ideas unlike Obama and his team. This November we can make a choice that will alter the course of our Nation. Either we return to the principles of small Federal Government and allow people to live their lives free from the burdens on taking care of those who wish to cheat the system. Or we can continue down the road to communism. If Romney gets into office and continues to take us down the road of spending and entitlements then I am wrong. But if Obama gets re-elected than the past 4 years stand as a testimony to me that our Nation will not exist as we know it by the year 2016! The future destiny of America rest on the shoulders of Voters!

Taxation or Legal Plunder?

Taxation or Legal Plunder?
Taxes have always been a part of history. Taxes are needed for a government to endure. I would like to focus more on Federal Taxation and discuss State Taxation at another time.
What are the bounds of Federal Taxation? Do they have restrictions? The Government officials in office right now would say that the Federal Government has no limits on what they can do. They have shown us this by the way they have disregarded the Constitution. Our current president has far exceeded the restraints embedded in our Constitution. Our founders placed restraints in the constitution for our presidents and elected officials to preserve our REPUBLIC.
I am about to offend a lot of people with what I am going to write. I’ve learned that I can’t please everyone in life and it is the things that some love and agree with most that others will find the most despising and repulsing. I’m willing to accept that.
I would like to say this while I still have the right. I am not attacking a single person or those who support the idea of legal plunder. I am however attacking the idea of federal welfare, and the redistribution of wealth through taxation which is legal plunder.
Much of what you will read in this blog comes from an amazing book titled “The Law” by Frederick Bastiat. I would encourage all to read it.
Bastiat mentions three gifts from God in these words “In spite of the cunning of artful political leaders, these three gifts from God PRECEDE all human legislation and are superior to it. LIFE, LIBERTY, and PROPERTY do not exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it was the fact that life, liberty, and property existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place.”
Bastiat goes on to state “What, then is law? It is the collective organization of the individual right to lawful defense.”
Simply put I have the right to defend my life, liberty and property. No human legislation can overpower those gifts from God. If legislations goes against life, liberty or property then that legislation has overstepped its limits.
Our liberty is being attacked by the ideology of our President and those around him. America has always been a REPUBLIC BY THE PEOPLE. The politicians of our day are trying to “fundamentally” change that to a welfare state. Another name for welfare state is Socialism.
Socialism gives the impression that the government is looking out for the little man. Socialism wishes to take from the rich and give to the poor. Socialist see themselves as a Robin Hood of sorts. What socialist don’t understand is the idea of Robin Hood is to take from those who have plundered from the poor and give back to the poor what was already theirs.
The socialist sees the big corporations and rich persons of America as evil. They wish to place a tax on the rich and give that money to the poor. This is also known as legal PLUNDER. Our government has created such legislation and enforced it upon the people, and the effect is legalized plunder under the name of taxation.
Bastiat poses the question “But how is this legal plunder to be identified?” How can we tell what taxes are legal and just under the law and which taxes are plunder and protected under the law? Bastiat continues and explains it “Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. SEE IF THE LAW BENEFITS ONE CITIZEN AT THE EXPENSE OF ANOTHER BY DOING WHAT THE CITIZEN HIMSELF CANNOT DO WITHOUT COMMITTING A CRIME.”
My neighbor by law cannot come to my front door and demand $100.00 My neighbor may ask for it and leave it up to me to choose to either give it him, loan it to him or tell him “NO”.
When the Government takes that $100.00 and gives it to my neighbor under the name of taxation this becomes legal plunder. The socialist do not want to commit illegal plunder because we will know their true desires. The socialists wish to impose plunder using the legal system and disguise it under the name of taxation. In the end it is the same.
Bastiat continues “When a portion of wealth is transferred from the person who owns it without his consent and without compensation, and whether by force or by fraud to anyone who does not own it, then I say that property is violated; that an act of plunder is committed.”
As I said at the beginning, Taxes are needed for the government to endure. But there is a difference between taxes and legal plunder. Legal plunder will destroy any government which tries to adopt it. The plundered monies from the citizen are used for welfare programs, excessive raises for government officials and other illegal expenses that our government dips into our national treasury for.
As Americans we must stop this legal plundering by voting into office men and woman who will not allow the excessive raises. We must freeze all welfare programs and restore the original Social Security program. (if you don’t put anything in you don’t get anything out and it is optional to put in)
This November we can start the process of reversing the injuries our government has inflected on us the citizens. Our elected officials seem to have forgotten that we the people are the government. We must remove the czars and other radicals that occupy the White House and remove all so called power Obama has given them. No government official has any power that we the people cannot take away. The power of our government rest upon every citizen. We must VOTE to stop this plundering and Fundamental Change that is taking place in America. Please Vote! The future of America depends on voting and placing righteous men and women into office who will uphold that Constitution our current president has disregarded and disgraced.

Can America Survive?

In Caesar and Christ, Will Durant states "A great civilization is not conquered from without until it has destroyed itself within. The essential causes of Rome's decline lay in her people, her morals, her class struggle, her failing trade, her bureaucratic despotism, her stifling taxes, her consuming wars."

All to often people become complacent and disregard the duty of being a citizen of these United States. It is our right and obligation to place into office honest and good persons who will hold fast to the Constitution. Who will uphold the moral and economic principals found within the sacred writing of our Founding Fathers.

On June 1, 1837 Daniel Webster expresses "I apprehend no danger to our country from a foreign foe...Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter. From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence, I must confess that I do apprehend some danger. I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants, and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing."

Abraham Lincoln shared similar views. When Lincoln was 28 years old speaking to the Young Men's Lyceum of Springfield He asked, "At what point shall we expect the approach of danger? By what means shall we fortify against it? Shall we expect some transatlantic military giant, to step the Ocean, and crush us at a blow? Never! All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Bonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years.

Lincoln continues "At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time or die by suicide."

I am starting to wonder if we can stop this suicide. Some believe that we are already dead. Alexander Fraser Tytler (history professor at the University of Edinburgh) claimed "A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is ALWAYS followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From Bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage"

For those of you who have read the Book of Mormon know this to be the Nephite cycle. It is found repeatedly in the pages of the Book of Mormon.

At the close of the Constitutional Convention a woman asked Benjamin Franklin what type of government the convention was giving the people. Franklin replied, "A republic, if you can keep it."

Our Republic is more frail then a democracy. A Republic demands more from its citizens. A Republic requires the citizen to take an active part in the government. To vote, to serve in community positions, to serve in the many branches of military.

I fear that America has abandoned our republic and moved towards a democracy in the last 50 or so years. I fear more that we are moving more and more towards a dictatorship. The meaning of checks and balances are losing their meaning. The House and Senate no longer play the role of keeping a president it check. That is why a republic is so frail. Each citizen must do our part by knowing who we are voting for.

How many of us know our Congressman and Senators? How many of us have attended town hall meetings? How many of us research those running for office so when we arrive at the polls we make an informed decision?

Our country is in trouble! Spending is out of control. Our Federal debt is off the charts. Americans will be passing debt onto their children and children's children because of the fiscal recklessness of our elected leaders.

Americans need to take a stand today! Start now to research the Constitution, and those who helped to created it. Study about the principals and morals that made America great. Learn the true history of America by the very men and women who made it. Become informed on current events. Vote!

Can America be saved? If it can then it is up to her people to do the job. To elect men and women with sound moral principals. To vote out those who have betrayed the Constitution and forsaken integrity.

I wish to close with the words of man who knew and lived the meaning of integrity.

In short, we must now determine to be enslaved or free! If we make freedom our choice, we must obtain it by the blessing of Heaven on our united and vigorous efforts.

Inspiration

In speaking with one of my friends I have been inspired to follow his lead in starting a blog about certain things people do not feel very comfortable talking about. Religion and Politics. Although I do not posses the writing capabilities of my friend who writes the Thought Provoking Conversation blog I hope to inspire someone, somewhere, to take a more active role in religion and politics. If nothing else, then to improve my own writing capabilities and share my thoughts and ideas with those who care to hear them. I will focus more on Politics but throw in some religion as well. Some of the topics that I will expound on are, if America can survive, immigration, taxation without representation, the Right to keep and bear Arms, Freedom of speech, Is America still a Christian nation, Founding Fathers, The role of Religion in government, the real meaning of Separation of Church and State, Does Freedom still exist in America. These are just a few of the ideas I have thought deeply about had many open minded conversations with friends and family. Input from others in encouraged.

The name for my blog God-Family-County comes from one of my favorite Prophets, Statesman, and Author Ezra Taft Benson. These 3 things are what make America the Greatest Nation on Earth. Most of my writings will come from books and quotes I have read and I will do my best to state the sources. I find myself to be more the student then the teacher. I love to read and can never get enough information to satisfy my thirst for knowledge.

I hope all who read the post I publish will find them informing and provoking.
